Nucleus
The Nucleus. It contains all of the cell's genetic information and directs other parts of the cell. Sounds like a great Chief Organelle, right? Think again. The Salk Institute of Biological Studies recently found that the dysfunction in the cell's nucleus can lead to major health issues such as heart disease and leukemia. Although it does hold a lot of power, the nucleus also has a lot of responsibility. If even the slightest thing goes wrong in the process of DNA replication, the entire cell is doomed, no thanks to the nucleus. Remember this when voting this year and don't forget to Go Golgi in the 2018 Organelle Elections!
